Draw process
We would like to thank the entrants of the competition as your contributions are going to make an incredible difference in the lives of young children!
There will be three draw dates, being Wednesday 20th, Monday 25th and Friday 29th April, which will be used to get the number of tickets remaining in the competition down to 20.
The last 20 ticket holders left in the draw will be invited to the Bashall home in Johannesburg where the final draw will take place on 11th May.
The winning ticket holder will win R200,000 and an equivalent amount will go to The Link Trust.
All ticket holders will be notified directly by email after each draw date as to whether they are still in or out of the competition.
Broader communication around this draw process will be provided via Facebook.
Background to the competition
The Link Literacy Project touches the lives of about 800 children in 9 schools through the donation of time by approximately 350 volunteers on a weekly basis.
Although time is the most important and valuable resource it requires, the Project also needs monetary backing to fund daily operations. At its current size, around R350 000 is required to run the project for a year. A further upfront R80 000 plus R10 000 annually is required to open a new center.
Sourcing this funding is no easy task, however, as donor fatigue is a very real side-effect of the unrelenting competing social demands in South Africa which, when combined with the local and global economic headwinds, negatively impacts our ability and propensity to donate to good causes.
In order to combat this challenge, The Link Trust embarked on an innovative competition to raise funds while offering donors the chance to win a significant cash prize.
